On 6-7 June 2023, an international seminar was held. It was called “Preservation and Development of Ukrainian Human Capital in Research, Education and Innovation”. The organizer was the National Academy of Sciences (Washington, the USA).

The meeting was attended by representatives from the US National Academy of Sciences, the Eurasian Academy of Sciences, the Polish Academy of Sciences, the National Research Fund of Ukraine, the Council of Young Researchers (under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine), Ukrainian universities.

From Sumy State University, Kostiantyn KYRYCHENKO joined the discussion (chief of the International Affairs Department). He analyzed current needs of Ukrainian higher education institutions and Ukrainian science support.

During the event, the results of international support programs for Ukrainian scientists were summed up. They were primarily implemented by foreign organizations after the full-scale invasion of Russia.

Within two days, presentations were made and several topics were discussed:

  • Support of Ukrainian scientists and engineers: skill rise through international partnership;
  • Creation of new programs to meet critical research needs;
  • Network and research management skills through trainings, seminars and international programs;
  • Needs and challenges of modern science;
  • New tools for Ukrainian science support.

As a meeting result, effective solutions, future mechanisms and measures for international support of Ukrainian scientists were discussed.
