The Laboratory of Materials Science of Solar Energy, Sensor and Nanoelectronic Systems was provided with new equipment.

Laboratory innovations:

  • A Nicolet IS20 infrared Fourier spectrometer (Thermo Fisher Scientific, the USA);
  • An Axio Vert A1 MAT metallographic microscope (Carl Zeiss Microscopy GmbH, Germany);
  • A Foudry Master Smart optical emission metal analyzer (Hitachi High-Tech Analytical Science, Germany).

The Nicolet IS20 infrared Fourier spectrometer can display molecular bonds and study various types of samples – powdery, jelly-like, plastic. It is applicable in analyzing biological, medical and chemical materials.

The Axio Vert A1 MAT microscope can acquire a high-quality image and perform multiphase analysis of metal samples. It improves accuracy of research results and significantly reduces the time required for image processing.

The Foudry Master Smart optical emission metal analyzer defines the chemical composition of metals and alloys at high speed of measurement and data processing. The analyzer can provide incoming quality control of materials for pilot production of Sumy State University and third-party customers.

The equipment was obtained within the project “Institutional Development of the Center for Collective Use of Material Science Equipment. It was funded by the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science and the Horizon 2020 program.
