Sumy State University joined the international project “Two steps: Internationalization in practice – Sweden, Ukraine, Belarus” under the sponsorship of The Baltic University Programme. The project is dedicated to enhancement of internationalization in higher education institutions, and international networking among universities of Ukraine, Sweden and Belarus. Also, the project is oriented to representatives of international affairs departments and internationalization departments.

The first seminar within the project took place on May 27th-30th 2019 at Uppsala University, Uppsala (Sweden) and gathered representatives of 12 universities of Ukraine, 6 HEIs of Belarus and 8 Swedish universities. Within the seminar participants shared experience of implementing internationalization strategies in the universities, discussed the main components of it and challenges on the way to international recognition of universities. Sumy State University successfully presented its own experience of organization grant activity as essential component of university’s internationalization strategy.

During the exposition of the best practices of European and Ukrainian HEIs cooperation professor Thomas Boren from the Umea University performed with the presentation of successful implementation of joint grant projects with Sumy State University within Erasmus+ program and outlined the results of joint scientific research with academics of SumDU Medical Institute.

SumDU at the meeting was presented by the Head of the Department for Internationalization of Educational Activity Nadiia Kostiuchenko and Deputy Head of International Affairs Department Olena Gorobchenko.
