SumDU held a video ceremony of the renewed Magna Charta Universitatum signing

Sumy State University has confirmed its confession of the most important educational values and traditions and its affiliation with the European and world academic community. On May 5^th, the rector of SumDU Vasyl Karpusha signed the renewed Magna Charta Universitatum.

Sumy State University joined the most progressive institutions of higher education, which are signatories of the Magna Charta Universitatum, on September 17^th, 2010.

An updated document confirming the global dimension of higher education institutions, as well as their significant role in overcoming the modern challenges of humanity, was approved by the Observatory Council of the Magna Charta Universitatum in March 2020. It was planned to hold a global event to celebrate the importance of higher education and to sign the Magna Charta Universitatum (Italy) in September 2020, however, due to a pandemic, the event was postponed. Due to the continuation of quarantine restrictions, the organizers invited the partner universities to hold a solemn signing ceremony in the video format. SumDU willingly joined such a respectable initiative. The video is planned to be posted on the website of the Magna Charta Observatory and presented in the program of the online event, which is being prepared for mid-June this year.

For the information. The Magna Charta Universitatum is the result of a proposal made in 1986 by the University of Bologna to Europe's leading universities. The idea of compiling and signing such a document was enthusiastically supported by the scientific, educational, and political elite.
