Athletes of Sumy State University won gold and bronze medals at the European Judo Junior Championship.

351 athletes from 43 countries participated in the competition held from September 9-12 in Luxembourg.

Nataliia Chystiakova, a student majoring in Physical Culture and Sports, won the competition in the weight category up to 70 kg. On the way to the title of the European champion, she defeated opponents from Lithuania, Portugal, Spain, and Croatia.

Vladyslav Kazimirov, who took third place in the 66 kg weight category, won another continental championship award. He defeated athletes from Latvia, Turkey, and Ukraine, and lost to the future champion from France in the semifinals, and defeated a judoka from Cyprus in a bronze medal match.

In total, the national team of Ukraine won 4 medals (1 gold and 3 bronze) at the European Under-21 Championships and took 6th place in the unofficial team standings.
