On 11-12 February 2023, the Open European Judo Cup was organized in Sofia (Bulgaria). The Ukrainian national team took the third place among 43 countries. Totally, 5 medals were awarded (2 golds, 2 silvers, 1 bronze). SumDU students of the Physical Culture and Sports specialty contributed to the victory significantly. Mykyta HOLOBORODKO (under 66 kg) got a gold. It is the highest achievement in career. He completed the international qualifying standard of the Ukrainian Sports Master.

Yevhenii BALIEVSKYI was a silver winner (over 100 kg). He defeated Moldova, France and Romania. However, his final Georgian rival proved to be stronger.

Natalia CHYSTIAKOVA (under 70 kg) defeated Kazakhstan and France. Unfortunately, she could not proceed to final: Bosnia and Herzegovina were stronger. For overcoming Croatia, our athlete could acquire a bronze.

Generally, 396 sportsmen of 43 countries and 5 continents participated in the European Cup.
