Alla Yarova (associate professor, the Department of Journalism and Philology) took part at the 68th International Conference “Communication and Automated Media: Challenges and Media Research”. The event was held in Bremen (Germany) on 18-20 May 2023.

The conference featured several discussion panels: Media Measurement; Algorithmic/Automated Media Communication; Journalism and Its Limits; Communication Artificial Intelligence.

A special panel, supported by the Volkswagen Foundation, presented Ukrainian research on war disinformation.

Alla YAROVA, representing Sumy State University and Stuttgart Media University reported on topic “Russian Disinformation in Germany: Themes, Elements, Narrative Design”. In her research, the problem of Russian disinformation was summarized. She said: “We can talk about types of Telegram channels that spread Russian disinformation or pro-Russian propaganda in Germany. They can be deliberately created, Russian-speaking with German geolocation, German-speaking with Russian geolocation, etc. Together, they form a single fake network, which manipulates public opinion”.

Mrs. YAROVA became one of the first Ukrainian media representatives to speak at such an important scientific event.
