On 2-3 August 2023 in Lviv, the Ukrainian Catholic University hosted a meeting of the Alliance of Ukrainian Universities. Here, new academic year’s strategy and plans were arranged.

SumDU was represented by Vasyl KARPUSHA (rector) and Kostiantyn KYRYCHENKO (head of the International Affairs Department).

The Alliance was established in spring 2023. Its members are Sumy State University, Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, Dnipro Polytechnic University, National University of Water and Environmental Engineering, Ukrainian Catholic University and Kyiv School of Economics.

The meeting participants discussed education and development issues of communities to resist and recover among military, civil, displaced and demobilized persons. Also, research and academic exchanges were negotiated. The Alliance will focus on community requests, home and foreign cooperation.

A great attention will be paid to interaction between students and lecturers, participation in university and community life. There are plans to realize student exchanges, home mobility, joint hybrid education and research, summer schools, certified programs and microqualifications.

Vasyl KARPUSHA noted that the Alliance is unique for Ukrainian education. It is a good example for other organizations and institutions.

“It is the first time when Ukraine has created an alliance of private and state universities. Private institutions show that today you can broaden high-quality education and research. I wish Ukraine follow the successful education model. Universities must be agents and intellectual support to provide new staff, education approaches and patriotic values”, – stated the rector.
