Within the Twinning Initiative, SumDU keeps cooperating with British colleagues. That was launched by the education consulting company «Cormack Consultancy Group» and supported by respective governments.

The aim is development of long-term cooperation between Ukrainian and British universities as well as wartime and post-wartime support. Now, SumDU and University of Liverpool implement a joint project “Partnership for Ukrainian digitalization” to exchange experience and achieve productive results.

The project provides scholarships of full-time and distance education. The grant funds are 197,000 pounds (9,000,000 hryvnias) from Universities UK International (UUKi).

In terms of the Twinning Initiative, this project is the largest one with 18 SumDU participants. They conduct researches in modern laboratories.

According to Kostiantyn KYRYCHENKO (head of the SumDU International Affairs Department, SumDU-Liverpool coordinator), the project gives a unique opportTwinning for researching, networking, experience exchanging.

There are some feedbacks from participants:

Olha Kramarenko (PhD student, Department of Management): Via the project, SumDU can get acquainted with the best Liverpool practices. I belong to the Liverpool Open Research Team and the UKRN project.

Dmytro Zhyhylii (associate professor, Volodymyr Martsynkovskyi Computational Mechanics Department): The research group of Dmytro Zhyhylii and Oleksandr Pozovnyi started cooperation with the Department of Engineering, Material Science and Aerospace at University of Liverpool. Research directions:

  • Construction defect study via optical measurements of tension and deformation;
  • Ultrasonic assessment of composite defects, forecast of retained strength and remaining life;
  • Image decomposition.

The Department of Engineering, Material Science and Aerospace at University of Liverpool possesses an advanced laboratory where SumDU researchers are currently working. Here, you can find a thermal press, an ultrasonic 3D scanner, tensile-testing machines, an impact load device, optical equipment.

Anna Rosokhata (senior lecturer, Department of Marketing): The University of Liverpool development is amazing. Its research, library, technological and methodological bases open horizons for further partnership. Also, you can get a valuable experience from foreign colleagues from Sydney, Cologne, Tel-Aviv. I am grateful to SumDU for such an opportTwinning to join them.

Alina Yefimenko (PhD students in Economics): The Twinning Initiative acquaints you with both European experience and education life. The advanced training broadens your knowledge in macroeconomic stability modelling. At University of Liverpool, I use modern scientometric bases and statistic processing software. Thank you, my dear alma mater, for such a chance!

Fedir Zhuravka (professor, Department of International Economic Relations): My research is realized with Dr. David Avino at the Management School, University of Liverpool. We are going to publish articles in authoritative indexed journals.

Vira Shendryk (head of Information Technology Department): Our staff started an active cooperation with Department of Computer Science, University of Liverpool. We had meetings with British colleagues to find common research interests. I admire the Liverpool openness, loyalty, assistance and support. Besides, we are impressed by resources and equipment for joint researches.
