On 5 November 2023, the International Summer School “University Library and Digital Transformation” was organized by Adam Mickiewicz University (Poznań, Poland). Sumy State University was represented at this event by Olha KRYTSKA (the library director).

Together with colleagues from 28 university libraries of Ukraine, she spent a week studying the experience of Poznań institutions. She had an opportunity to familiarize herself with the structure, funds and technical support of libraries. Also, opportunities were provided for disabled persons.

In the main university library, participants of the international school got acquainted with the Greater Poland Digital Library project. It gives provides access to manuscripts, old prints, etc. Besides, she learned about the Polish-Swedish project to restore old prints of the Jesuit collection.

Daily lectures, trainings, project presentations, master classes, library tours contributed to the acquisition of new knowledge and practical experience.

“I can state with confidence that Ukrainian and Polish libraries share the same values: customer orientation, innovation, accessibility, openness, inclusiveness, partnership, patriotism, professionalism. University libraries work in similar directions: research support, training and teaching, development of a client-oriented service model, improvement of digital content and services, improvement of physical and virtual library spaces”, – said Olha KRYTSKA.

According to her, Poles highly value and protect their cultural heritage.

“Sincerity and hospitality were felt in every library visited. I am sincerely grateful to all organizers of the event”, – - noted Olha KRYTSKA.

The summer school renewed lively communication between Ukrainian colleagues, which will contribute to further cooperation.
