Times Higher Education assessed the leading SumDU position among Ukrainian and Polish institutions

On 20-21 November 2023, a SumDU delegation of Vasyl KARPUSHA, Konstiantyn KYRYCHENKO and Denys SMOLENNIKOV took part in the IX LUMEN International Conference on University Management Leaders (Serock, Poland).

The key issues concerned transformation of universities in Poland and Ukraine, legislative reforms in the field of higher education, use of artificial intelligence in education and research, international ratings and global perspectives.

A landmark event was awarding the best universities in Poland and Ukraine based on the results of the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings. This year, among over 50 Polish and Ukrainian higher education institutions included in the rating, Sumy State University was awarded the highest position.

During the panel discussion on the EU education transformation of Ukraine, Vasyl KARPUSHA noted needs of universities within the wartime and further development.

“SumDU keeps improving. It strengthens international cooperation. Even in these stormy times, we managed to increase the income from scientific activities by a third”, – emphasized Vasyl KARPUSHA.

During the educational forum, important negotiations took place with leading Polish universities regarding further cooperation, joint development of projects in response to current challenges for further European integration of Ukraine.
