On 12-13 December 2023, at the invitation of the DCAF Geneva Security Management Center, Mykola NAZAROV reported for the seminar “Balance between Efficiency and Democratic Civilian Control in Defense: Lessons for Ukraine from Finland, South Korea and Taiwan”. The seminar was devoted to the search for successful practices of reforms and post-war recovery in Ukraine.

Mykola NAZAROV presented the main stages of reforming security and defense in Ukraine over the past 5 years and outlined the main future needs. The researcher was one of three invited representatives from Ukraine He took part offline.

“Today, Ukraine needs successful examples of reforming the security and defense sector in order to minimize mistakes and use the successful experience of other countries,” – noted Mykola NAZAROV.

Experts discussed the most relevant practices for Ukraine that can be borrowed from the studied countries. They concerned Ukrainian experience as well.

Mykola NAZAROV also shared work results of the Center for Regional Security Studies and the Center for Social Studies at Sumy State University. It dealt with key threats that residents of Ukraine are experiencing today.
