Leading Ukrainian and foreign managers, scientists, diplomats, experts and specialists in internationalization of higher education took part in the Ukrainian Forum of International Education. It took place on 10 April 2024 in Kyiv. Sumy State University was represented at the event by Ivan KOZII (Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs).

The forum participants were greeted by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mykhailo VYNNYTSKYI, Director of the enterprise “Ukrainian State Center for International Education” Olena SHAPOVALOVA and Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University Volodymyr BUHROV.

The Fourth Ukrainian Forum of International Education was held to promote opportunities for foreign students to obtain higher education in our country.

During the six-hour intense discussion, a wide range of issues was considered. Topics comprised motivation of foreign students who continue their studies in Ukraine during the war (detailed analysis by the Ukrainian Center for International Education). Also, external quality assurance of higher education in comparison with Ukrainian realities and European imperatives were noted. Problems with the recognition of foreign qualifications were analyzed with ways to solve them in today’s difficult conditions.

Much attention was paid to temporary residence permits for foreign students during martial law and changes in the requirements for documents to cross the border.

Besides, participants touched the exchange of experience and cases of partnership development with foreign educational institutions (UK and USA). Double degrees under martial law and the best internationalization practices were considered.

“The Ukrainian Forum for International Education is a powerful platform for professional growth, training and experience exchange. Such events help to popularize the educational opportunities of Ukraine. An important outcome of this year’s forum is that Ukrainian education has been and remains attractive to foreigners,” – shared Ivan KOZII his impressions.
