On 20 September 2024, SumDU celebrated the International Student Sports Day. The event was attended by students, teachers and guests of honor.

In his welcoming speech to the participants, rector Vasyl KARPUSHA emphasized the university makes sports accessible to every student, creates comfortable and safe conditions for practicing various sports. He also noted that even in wartime our athletes demonstrate high results at prestigious tournaments.

“SumDU creates all necessary conditions so that everyone has an opportunity to do what they love in the sports arena. You, our athletes, are the pride of our university. When I hear that a SumDU student has won a prize at a world or all-Ukrainian competition, it is a real reason for pride. Despite all difficulties, you train hard and win brilliant victories”, – said Vasyl KARPUSHA.

Anatolii VASYLIEV (head of the Ukrainian Sports Student Union in the Sumy Region) also congratulated participants. He underlined importance of sports for comprehensive development of youth. Raising a strong and healthy generation is a priority task. “Our students have been demonstrating excellent results for many years, both at the national and international levels. Such events cultivate both fortitude and physical endurance”, – stated Anatolii VASYLIEV.

Also, a DOTA 2 tournament for the SumDU Rector Cup took place. It united teams from schools and universities. 

“E-sports are becoming increasingly popular among young people. We are glad to join this sports festival. This allows us to expand the spectrum of sports in which our students can realize themselves”, – said Maksym KUNPAN (director of the SumDU Sports Club).

The driving atmosphere and emotionality give special feelings to all participants. The joy of victory leaves unforgettable memories.
