Yurii GOGOTSI (director of the Institute of Nanomaterials at Drexel University and SumDU professor) was recognized as a “Highly Cited Researcher” according to Clarivate Analytics in chemistry and material science.

This prestigious recognition places him in the top 0.1% of researchers worldwide, reflecting his significant and innovative contributions to the chemistry and material science. Only about 200 researchers worldwide have been included in the ranking in several industry categories at the same time. Moreover, Stanford list of the 2% most cited researchers ranked him 25 in the world across all scientific disciplines.

Professor Yurii GOGOTSI is the inventor of 2D nanomaterials – MXenes. These innovative materials can revolutionize energy conservation and biomedicine. Since 2020, he has been a SumDU honorary doctor. Since 2022, he has joined our institution as a part-time professor.

Professor Gogotsi’s cooperation with SumDU is important for development of innovations in our academic community. Due to joint efforts with Maksym POHORIELOV and Oleksandr POHREBNIAK, significant progress has been made in developing new strategies for targeted ablation of cancer cells and production of advanced conductive materials for regeneration of heart and nerve tissues.

SumDU students listened to the lectures of this outstanding scientist with pleasure, adopting his unique knowledge and experience.
