On 16 January 2025, a regional forum “Training of Specialists in the Vocational Education Centers of the State Employment Service: Teaching Ukrainians for Business Needs” was held in the village of Khoruzhivka (Romny Raion). Yana KRYVYCH (associate professor of the Department of Marketing, PhD in Economics) took part in the event.
The forum was held within the project “Reforming the System of Support and Development of Labor Potential”. It is implemented by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine jointly with the NGO “Business Sector Development of Ukraine”. Among supporters, there is the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as part of the “Ukraine Confidence Building Initiative (UCBI)”.
The main goal was to discuss current labor market challenges and find effective solutions for training qualified personnel.
Among forum participants, there were Tetiana BEREZHNA (Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine), Yulia ZHOVTIAK (Director of the State Employment Service of Ukraine), Taras SAVCHENKO (First Deputy Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration), Mykhailo HORPENKO (Chairman of the Council of Employers’ Federations in Sumy Region). Besides, there were representatives of local business. The forum brought together over 120 members.
The participants discussed the labor market state in Sumy region, prospects for its development. Role of Vocational Education Centers within the State Employment Service in training and retraining was considered.
The practical part included a tour of training and production workshops. Particular attention was paid to presentation of the Entrepreneurship and Business Planning course taught by Yana KRYVYCH.
“Training highly qualified personnel who meet needs of the modern labor market is a key component of the country’s economic recovery. The university participation in such projects demonstrates our openness to cooperation with business and government agencies,” – said Yana KRYVYCH.
