SumDU continues to implement its social mission by joining international initiatives to support vulnerable groups. Within the HelpAge project, the university provided a series of educational events for retired people and internally displaced persons in various regions of Ukraine.
The project was implemented during November-December 2025. It covered over 100 people from five regions of Ukraine (Kharkiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk). This demonstrates the broad scope of initiative and its relevance for different regions of the country.
The project was coordinated by Liudmila STARCHENKO (director of the SumDU Center for Professional and Postgraduate Education). The unit is responsible for organizational support, interaction with partners, training programs. This format of cooperation allows the academic expertise to be combined with practical needs of communities.
The training sessions involved SumDU lecturers and experts with practical experience in social policy, adult education, community development, and working with vulnerable groups. They are Yana KRYVYCH and Yevheniia ZIABINA (the BiEM Institute).
The HelpAge project is an example of SumDU active participation in developing adult education, strengthening social cohesion, and introducing best international practices of social support. The university expands partnership and supports projects aimed at sustainable community development and life quality improvement.
