Everyone who wanted to become the author of the free encyclopedia had the opportunity to join the event. Participants learned the Wikipedia educational program, got knowledge and skills in writing and editing articles, got acquainted with the features and specifics of their creation, received the necessary methodical material.

The webinar was conducted by Serhii Petrov, the Wikipedian, the project coordinator of PO “Wikimedia Ukraine” in the Kharkiv region. He recalled that Sumy State University entered the history of the “Wikimedia Ukraine” as the first Ukrainian university to sign a memorandum on the implementation of the “Wikipedia Education Program”.

“The educational program of the World Free Encyclopedia Foundation is an initiative aimed at engaging students in editing Wikipedia within the university courses. It provides opportunities for students to participate in an international project, allows to increase the citation index of the university and its teachers on the Internet, to expand the university representation on Wikipedia, to realize the educational function of higher education - the promotion of science,” - Serhii Petrov said.

Participants of the webinar had the opportunity to complete a practical task and, if successful, to obtain the appropriate certificate.
