The video "Your voice is important", developed by a creative group of students and postgraduates of SumDU “Backstage of Life”, as well as the video "Your vote in the election has the power" by the Head of SumDU Media Center Maryna Osiukhina were recognized as the best in the nomination "Art Video".

The winners of the competition were determined in several nominations: "Educational Video", "Motivational Video", "Professional Video" and so on.

A total of 67 works from participants from different parts of Ukraine were submitted to the jury. The top-15 were shown on the Facebook page of the International Republican Institute. Some videos have been selected for television.

The competition was held as part of the #DefineYourFuture initiative with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The project "Why Do We Vote?" included a series of training webinars, personal consultations with coaches, and a campaign to distribute the winning videos among the voting public. The final stage of the project was an online discussion, where the winners were announced.

The discussion was participated by Iryna Vivchar, communicator of the “Chesno” Movement, Svitlana Kolodii, coordinator of the “VlipyZaSebe” initiative, Maksym Onopriienko, the member of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting; the project coaches: media technologist, trainer on the institutional development of public organizations, basics of media literacy and public relations Olena Kvasha, journalist and media technologist Andrii Bohdanovych, as well as competition participants.

"For me personally, the project "Why do we vote?" is a story about cool, motivated people with ideas and the desire for changes", - the coach Olena Kvasha shared her impressions.

"The “Why Do We Vote?” project is important because in the context of the coronavirus, people, especially youth, feel divided, so the need to go to the election is threatened - young people do not feel that their vote is important, do not see that they are a part of the government processes. Thanks to the video created by the participants, it was possible to remind that there are other threats - threats to democracy. And that is why this competition is so relevant, - said Maryna Osiukhina. - SumDU is now developing strongly in the direction of the video production and involvement of students and postgraduates in this process. Therefore, to participate in the competition, everything was put together - the sense, the form, the creativity, the self-realization, and the civic position.
