Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oleksiy SHKURATOV visited SumDU

On December 23, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine for European Integration Oleksiy SHKURATOV and First Deputy Head of Sumy Regional State Administration Taras SAVCHENKO paid a working visit to Sumy State University.

The coworking UniverCity hosted the presentation of university scientific achievements, in particular, the areas of state certification, as a result of which the university became the leader among Ukrainian higher education institutions. The Deputy Minister was informed about the topics of research activities, participation in competitions of the National Research Fund of Ukraine, the volume of contracts for research, manufacture of scientific and technical products, the value of which exceeded last year value more than twice.

The international cooperation practice, partnerships with foreign scientific and educational institutions within the international programs and projects were also presented to the Deputy Minister. Currently, the university cooperates with 300 partners in 55 countries. Strategic partners of SumDU are the universities of Great Britain, Ireland, China, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, and the United States. This year, the university received the record number of grant projects, in particular, under the EU Erasmus + program, Jean Monnet - 10 of the 26 projects supported in Ukraine.

During his stay at SumDU Oleksiy SHKURATOV got acquainted with the information and library system of SumDU, its structure, services and possibilities, implementation of IT technologies in the educational process, in particular, the possibilities of the laboratory of virtual and augmented reality "Ulab", visited IT centers of partner companies. Center for collective use of scientific equipment, bionanocomposite laboratory, social and sports facilities. The Deputy Minister noted the innovative capacity of the university, successful teamwork.

"Sumy State University is far from the capital, but even according to the quality of student work, we can see that SumDU is the first, which means that you have other advantages that allow you to get a high result. First of all, it is a team. Qualified specialists really work here, who perform their work honestly and efficiently under the guidance of the rector and vice-rectors”, Oleksiy SHKURATOV said.
