In December, within the framework of the international project "I-Media" implemented by Sumy State University, three events were held in the format of the blog-cafe, aimed at developing the leadership skills of local activists and media literacy.

On December 10, the blog-cafe for SumDU volunteer service was held, during which students learned how to write news, the structure and composition of news, as well as conducted the audit of SumDU Volunteers page on the social network Instagram. As a result, the authors of the posts learned how to improve each of the publications and attract the attention of a larger audience.

On December 15, students visited the blog-cafe "How to understand modern memes and where to use them." Attendees learned which functions the memes performed, and that they were not only the entertainment, but also a powerful tool for manipulation and propaganda. But at the same time, it is the opportunity to draw attention to your blogs or media.

The practical exercise was interesting, during which all participants had to create their own memes for current news. The students liked the task so much that everyone created not one, but several memes, after which there was a vote for the best author. The winner, Maria Rashevska, received a garland as a gift from the organizers for the New Year mood.

On December 17, the strictly practical blog cafe took place, during which team members learned to shoot videos for the TikTok social network (devised scripts, filmed and edited).

Within the project, online activity is going on simultaneously with offline activities. Almost 100 bloggers have already created their own blogs on human rights issues, and these are almost 800 posts about human rights and the state of their observance in Ukraine and the world.

In 2022, the project activity will be continued, 5 more blog cafes are planned, as well as training of bloggers from Estonian colleagues.

For reference: the organizers of the project "I - Media" are Sumy State University, NGO "Youth Media Union (YMU)" together with the NGO "Human Rights Foundation", University of Tartu (Estonia), and the project is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia.
