On 6 April 2023, the SumDU Congress Center gathered foreign students that returned to Sumy after the evacuation. Here, the SumDU International Event “Life Stories on Campus” was organized.

The event purpose is recovery of communication between SumDU and foreigners. The discussed topics comprised wartime study, living, personal development.

The meeting organizers were Tetiana MAIBORODA (associate professor, deputy chief of SumDU International Affair Department) and Hanna SHVINDINA (professor, executive chief of Life-Long Education Center).

The participants shared their wartime stories in Ukraine and abroad, return impressions, current adaptation, assistance need. The talk was extremely dynamic and trustful.

“I am very glad to see all my friends again. I expressed them my wartime experience and emotions”, – said Al Amin Badusha.

Since the war beginning and evacuation, foreign students were afraid of losing the opportunity to obtain the SumDU diploma. It is SumDU they would like to graduate from. That shows a positive image of our university on the international level.

“SumDU is highly ranked worldwide. Therefore, I decided to finish my education here and obtain the diploma,” – noted Pancholi Vibhuti Ashokbhai.

“It is nice to return to Sumy. We have been studying here for 5.5 years. It is a friendly town in a friendly country. Local people regard me as a brave guy for coming back here”, – stated Zapadiya Viral Pankajbhai.

According to Tetiana MAIBORODA, the event “Life Stories on Campus” improves intercultural relations and foreigners’ post-return adaptation. Besides, it strengthens the Ukrainian nation as well: presence of foreign students raises international unity and post-war recovery.

Thus, foreigners keep studying and mastering their professional skills. They believe Ukraine will win as soon as possible!
