Yevhenii BALIEVSKYI (a Master’s student in the Physical Culture and Sports specialty) became the winner of the European Judo Cup in the 100+ kg weight category.

The competition was held on 1 October 2023 in Prague (Czech Republic). On the way to the championship, the SumDU representative defeated opponents from Monaco, France, Austria and Slovakia.

Close to the award was the Mykyta HOLOBORODKO (weight category up to 66 kg). He won three victories, but lost in the semi-finals and the bronze competition. He took the fifth place among 52 competitors in his weight class.

Totally, 443 athletes from 41 countries participated in the Open European Cup. The Ukrainian national team won three awards (gold, silver and bronze). It took the fourth place in the unofficial team standings.
