A labor conference was held at Sumy State University. The 2023 results were discussed.
The event began with an awards to Yurii ZUBAN (director of the E-Learning Center), Andrii DIEDKOV (head of the Center for Telecommunication Technologies and Computer Support) and Vasyl NEFEDCHENKO (deputy admission secretary for the Single State Education Database).
Diplomas were also conferred on winners of the competition “The Best Scientific and Pedagogical SumDU Employee”.
In his speech, Vasyl KARPUSHA noted the harmonious and productive work of the entire team, which ensures the success of the university. 2023 has become one of the most successful years in the history of Sumy State University.
He thanked every SumDU employee and soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for an opportunity to work and achieve results.
The university confirmed efficiency by improving its position in international rankings. It is included in the top 401-500 of the best institutions worldwide. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings assess SumDU with the first position in Ukraine. Also, a high SumDU level is shown in Webometrics, QS World University Rankings, UI GreenMetric, SciMago Institutions Rankings, etc.
One of the key issues is the contingent formation. More school graduates are choosing Sumy State University. This year, more students enrolled than in the years before the full-scale invasion. Correspondence education is highly demanded. Admission to SumDU colleges has increased. Besides, the number of graduate students rose.
Scientific work was also successful. Research income is growing. The total volume of SumDU research financing is 127.4 million UAH. It is one of the largest indicators among Ukrainian education institutions.
Publishing activity was active: over 600 publications in Scopus and Web of Science. The university h-index is better.
Records were set in the international activity. Currently, the university is implementing 40 Jean Monet projects. There is a tight cooperation with the University of Liverpool. The number of participants in academic mobility has increased significantly.
The quality of specialist training is officially confirmed by successful accreditation of 28 educational programs. New curricula are created (Law Enforcement).
SumDU students are returning to active extracurricular activities. 2023 is the year of incredible success of our athletes. 1st place in the winter and 2nd place in the summer Universiade among all higher education institutions of Ukraine. 333 students became prize-winners of international and all-Ukrainian competitions. 192 students won the title of laureates of art competitions and festivals.
The rector outlined his vision in the personnel potential formation, IT development to support university activities and infrastructure.
“We are responsible for Ukrainian future. All our achievements have become possible thanks to the dedication and solidarity of people who want to change the university together with the country. Fulfillment of our educational and scientific mission is a contribution to the victory and successful future of our state,” – concluded Vasyl KARPUSHA.
Valentyna BOROVYK (SumDU trade union head) informed on implementing the collective agreement between the administration and SumDU trade union for 2022-2025.
At the end, the labor team conference approved changes to the university academic board. Its head Anatolii VASYLIEV made corresponding proposals.
