The Ukrainian Catholic University hosted a presentation of the research methodology to determine needs of local communities within the project “Strengthening the Capacity of Communities to Recover through Piloting Their Interaction with Universities”.
Experts from the Alliance Universities began working together on the methodology in November 2023. The study included a survey of residents, community leaders and employees, business representatives and NGOs. It concerned needs and challenges of resilience, development and recovery.
“We felt a strong demand for expertise from universities in project management, international cooperation and fundraising as well as experience in solving certain technological and infrastructure issues,” – said Kostiantyn Kyrychenko (a member of the Alliance management team, the head of the SumDU International Cooperation Department).
Speakers and participants also included representatives of local governments. They shared challenges and problems faced by communities and outlined prospects for cooperation within the framework of university-community relations.
The research methodology to determine needs of local communities and results in 12 pilot communities can be found on the website of the Alliance of Ukrainian Universities here.
The project is implemented by the Alliance of Ukrainian Universities and supported by the International Renaissance Foundation. The media partner is Osvita.ua.
