Within the ServU project “Service Learning in Higher Education for Ukraine’s Recovery” under the Erasmus+ program, a SumDU members took part in the training “Service-Learning Pedagogy for Community Development during Wartime and Recovery”.

The training was marked by active work and productive discussions within the ServU project. The Catholic University of Eitstatt-Ingolstadt (Germany) brought together leading educators from different countries to discuss and implement innovative approaches to education focused on Ukrainian recovery and development.

SumDU once again demonstrated high professionalism and dedication. The participants noted the productive workshops conducted by project employees from KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (Germany), LUMSA University (Italy), KU LEUVEN (Belgium), National University “Dnipro Polytechnic” (Ukraine), Ukrainian Catholic University (Ukraine) and, of course, Sumy State University.

The First Vice-Rector Inna SHKOLNYK, who headed the SumDU delegation, praised the level of organization and discussion content. She emphasized importance of international cooperation for the development of higher education in Ukraine and introduction of the latest teaching methods that will contribute to the country’s recovery.

The ServU project is an excellent platform for exchange of experience and best practices between universities in Europe and Ukraine. Its goal is not only to improve the quality of education, but also to strengthen social capital through the development of service learning that integrates students into real social projects and initiatives.

We believe that the results of this meeting will make a significant contribution to the joint efforts for restoring and developing Ukraine through educational innovation and international cooperation. We thank all participants and partners for their contribution and support! We express special gratitude to our colleagues from KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (Germany) for their hospitality and warm welcome.
