Over 60 students, postgraduates and teachers of Sumy State University have received free places to participate in two online modules at the international summer school of the University of Liverpool.

Within the program “Fake News, Fake Science and Critical Thinking. What Should I Believe? (10- 28 June 2024)”, SumDU members improved their knowledge. They checked reliability of information sources, recognized fake news in social networks.

The module “Sustainable Development Goals. Global Challenges. Local Actions. Achieved Outcomes (1- 19 July 2024)” discussed ways to ensure these goals worldwide.

Besides, four SumDU students took part at the summer school directly on the campus of the British university.

“Upon my arrival in Liverpool, I had a lot of interesting things to do. I attended a campus tour, met teachers, student supervisors and other program participants in a friendly, informal atmosphere. For my studies, I chose courses that allowed me to get to know not only the city of Liverpool, but also Britain in general. During the classes, we went on excursions and museums, looking at ancient monuments and fascinating architecture. We watched movies and talked a lot. The curators constantly organized interesting quests and parties for us, so we had no time to get bored. In general, I can confidently say that the University of Liverpool Summer School gave me an opportunity not only to experience all benefits of studying abroad, but also to meet students from all over the world, learn more about their cultures and explore pearls of Britain together. So, I sincerely recommend that students do not be afraid to participate in academic mobility programs, because it is definitely worth it!” – commented her participation Hlafira KOVAL, a Master student of the IFSK Faculty.

The SumDU participation for the third year in a row is part of a comprehensive cooperation program between two universities. They united within the Twinning Initiative by solemnly signing a memorandum of partnership in June 2022.

The British university offers participants of the summer school an intensive three-week program in various fields online and offline.

Participation in the international summer school of the British university enables students and teachers to gain new valuable knowledge and useful experience. It will contribute to further development of long-term cooperation between the twin universities. Moreover, it promotes internationalization of higher education in Ukraine and the UK.
