On 23-24 January 2025, the Sheptytskyi Center of the Ukrainian Catholic University (Lviv) hosted a meeting of the DigiUni consortium dedicated to development of DigiPlatform. It is a digital educational environment that should unite and expand educational opportunities of participating universities.
The meeting was actively attended by representatives of all ten Ukrainian partner universities, as well as delegates from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance. Their involvement emphasized the collective commitment to developing digital education and ensuring that the platform meets national priorities and quality standards.
SumDU was represented Yurii ZUBAN (director of the Center for E-Learning Technologies) and Borys KUZIKOV (associate professor of the Department of Computer Science and head of the E-Learning System Laboratory).
For two days, the participants worked on creating the DigiPlatform, a special digital space that is to become a real “digital umbrella” for Ukrainian universities. The platform will combine the best educational tools and open up new opportunities for students and teachers.
We managed to achieve significant results in two days:
- We developed a common vision of DigiPlatform as a “digital umbrella” that integrates course management, user authentication, and analytic tools, which facilitates academic mobility and collaboration.
- We agreed on the basic platform requirements to ensure compatibility with existing university systems.
- We started developing a detailed technical specification for the future platform.
“This platform will be a place where the best educational practices of our universities will meet. It will help teachers share their experience. Students can get a quality education no matter where they are, and join the educational practices of the best universities,” –describe the participants their project vision.
The DigiUni project is being implemented within the Erasmus+ CBHE program “Digital University – Open Ukrainian Initiative (DigiUni)” (№ 101129236-DigiUni-ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE). It will last till November 2027. This is a big step towards creating a modern educational space in Ukraine, where everyone can learn and develop. The project includes courses for students as part of academic mobility, massive open courses and micro-learning for the general public.
There is a lot of interesting work ahead on the technical documentation and implementation of the platform. But most importantly, we have a team of dedicated people who believe in the future of Ukrainian education. They are ready to work for its development.
