On 12 February 2025, the traditional futsal tournament (the Rector’s Cup of Sumy State University), took place at the SumDU Student Sports Palace. Four teams from Sumy and Shostka took part in the competition: Barsa Children and Youth Sports School, Barsa Boarding Lyceum and Barsa Football Center.

After fierce matches, the team of the Sumy football center Barsa became the tournament winner.

Vasyl KARPUSHA (SumDU rector) congratulated all participants and presented the cup as the main award.

“Futsal is not just a sport, it is also a character, endurance and team spirit! We should be proud of our athletes who keep training hard and show good results in the face of war. I wish you to confidently pursue your goals, success, development and victories,” – said Vasyl KARPUSHA.

The award ceremony was also attended by honored guests: Andrii PROKHOROVYCH (chairman of the Sumy Oblast Football Association), Albert MALHAMOV (chairman of the Sumy City Football Federation), and Yevhen PETRAKOV (chairman of the Sumy Futsal Development Association).

In addition to awarding the winners, Andrii PROKHOROVYCH also recognized the SumDU football team, which won the 2024 City Cup. The best players received gift certificates from the Sumy Futsal Association. The Barsa Football Center and the Barsa Children and Youth Sports School team received futsal balls, as they will represent Sumy Oblast at the Ukrainian Championship.
