SumDU rector Vasyl KARPUSHA spoke at the Forbes University forum where he took part in the panel discussion “University + Business”. Participants discussed how education and business can effectively interact, adapting curricula to market requirements.

Speakers also included representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, business elites, and heads of leading educational institutions.

Vasyl KARPUSHA emphasized that, despite its proximity to the front line and constant challenges, SumDU has not only survived but also significantly increased its scientific potential. He noted that the university is gradually transforming from an educational-scientific institution to a scientific-educational one, where the emphasis is on applied research commissioned by business. The result is significant: over the last three war years, SumDU has managed to double its revenue from such research. In 2024, this amount reached 154 million hryvnias, which is 22% of the university’s total revenue. The rector noted that SumDU works not only with domestic partners, but also with international grants, which confirms the high demand for the university’s developments among the business community.

The rector also noted the importance of supporting business partners and colleagues from the Alliance of Ukrainian Universities for helping to restore the SumDU infrastructure after the enemy attack. This is a vivid example of how effective partnerships help not only survive but also develop, shaping the future of education and business in Ukraine.
