On 11 October 2025, SumDU held an Open Day in a live format. The event brought together future entrants, their parents, as well as representatives of all faculties and institutes of SumDU.
Participants had an opportunity to get acquainted with university administration and teachers, receive consultations from the admission and selection committees, visit presentation locations of institutes and faculties, take a career guidance test, and join interactive activities.
A team of student ambassadors helped guests navigate the SumDU.
Rector Vasyl KARPUSHA, in his address to event participants, emphasized that SumDU is about high-quality education, creating safe conditions for learning, and professional prospects.
“We love our university, we believe in it, and we know that everyone who becomes a part of it will receive maximum opportunities for development. SumDU is not only about modern education, but also about safe conditions for learning, even during wartime. We have already equipped 16 classroom shelters and are planning to build a large shelter for 500 seats. At the same time, we are a digital university that has been developing distance learning for over 15 years. And our positions in international rankings confirm: the SumDU philosophy is quality,” – emphasized the rector.
Each unit prepared original locations with demonstrations, simulations, and interactives. Representatives of institutes and faculties spoke about advantages of studying in their specialties:
Anna NENIA (deputy dean of the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technologies): “We train specialists who work in leading companies in Ukraine and worldwide. Working in IT is difficult, but interesting”.
Anna NESTHA (executive secretary of the Selection Committee of the Faculty of Technical Systems and Energy-Efficient Technologies): “The demand for engineering specialties is growing. Many of our educational programs have state support, which increases the chances of admission to the budget”.
Artem KRYSKO (student of the Law Institute): “Our institute is for people who are interested in legislation and politics, who seek to protect rights and freedoms of people, who love to communicate. Lawyers are in demand everywhere, and this is a prestigious, promising profession”.
Svitlana RYBALCHENKO (deputy director of the Business, Economics and Management Institute): “We help students develop leadership qualities, entrepreneurial thinking and other important skills – already from the first year. This helps later in employment and adaptation to adult life”.
Yuliia CHUDAIEVA (executive secretary of the Medical Institute): “We offer innovative education that combines training in simulation centers, practice in laboratories and clinical bases, involvement in unique scientific research. For those who are interested in medicine, we have a wide stock of specialties”.
Antonina PROKOPENKO (deputy dean of the Faculty of Foreign Philology and Social Communications): “Our specialties teach you to understand society, culture, and people. This is a reliable basis for a successful career in the humanitarian field”.
Stanislav MELEICHUK (director of the Center for Correspondence, Distance, and Evening Learning): “Distance education is a modern, convenient form of interaction between applicants and teachers, an individual schedule of the educational process, constant access to the educational platform. You study where it is convenient and when it is convenient”.
Applicants shared their impressions of the Open Day at SumDU.
“I haven’t decided on my future profession yet, so I attended this event. I learned that SumDU offers many good specialties,”– said Maksym, a high school student.
“It was very useful. Although I already have certain preferences for my future specialty, I decided to test my professional abilities by writing a career orientation test. The result coincided with my wishes,” – said about the event Sofiia, an eleventh-grader.
“I have already chosen SumDU and the specialty I want to enter, but I visited all locations with interest. All presentations were informative and useful. The impressions from the event are very positive. It feels like the university has a pleasant, friendly atmosphere,” – emphasized Mariia.
The SumDU Open Day gave each participant an opportunity to look into the world of modern education, see university advantages from the inside, get to know teachers and take another step towards a conscious choice of profession.
