The documentary film “2,000 Meters to Andriivka” won the Emmy Award in the documentary category for Best Directing. The author was Oleksandr BABENKO, a postgraduate student at the Department of Journalism and Philology.
Directed by Mstyslav CHERNOV, the film chronicles combat operations of soldiers from the Third Separate Assault Brigade during liberation of the village of Andriivka near Bakhmut. Working directly on front lines, the creative team documented the Ukrainian military’s advance amid constant danger and shelling.
“2,000 Meters to Andriivka” became one of the most notable documentary projects about the Russian-Ukrainian war and was nominated for six Emmy Awards, including “Outstanding Documentary”, “Outstanding Script”, “Outstanding Cinematography” and “Outstanding Editing”.
Work on the film lasted nearly a year and a half. The project was produced in collaboration with Frontline and Associated Press. Arthouse Traffic served as the film’s Ukrainian distributor.
