On February 21st, Acting Student Rector of SumDU Mykyta Kovalevskyi and student activists Vireko Andrew Avuah (Medical Institute), Maryna Oleksenko (Faculty of Foreign Philology and Social Communications), Dmytro Lobas (Faculty of Technical Systems and Energy Efficient Technologies), Kateryna Popova (Academic and Research Institute of Law), Vladyslav Piven (Academic and Research Institute of Business, Economics and Management) and Arina Stolbtsova (Machine Building Professional College of Sumy State University) took the challenge on the International First Language Day in social networks, having read Serhii Zhadan's poem “Radist – tse te, shcho daietsia z boiem” (Joy doesn’t come easy) together.

This poem was a kind of a call to every student to never give up and fight for positive changes. Sumy Mayor Oleksandr Lysenko passed the baton to the Student Rector on February 19th on his official Facebook page.

In addition, the SumDU library prepared a video with foreign students’ words in their native languages for this holiday, and the Student Directorate of the Medical Institute organized a joint holiday for Ukrainian and international students.
