Anatoliy Vasylyev is an honorary citizen of Sumy

On February 24^th, Sumy City Council decided to award the title of "Honorary Citizen of Sumy" to the Honorary Rector of Sumy State University, the Head of the Academic Council, Adviser to the Rector, Ph.D., Professor Anatoliy Vasylyev.

25 deputies (with required 22) voted for the honorary title.

Anatoliy Vasylyev headed Sumy State University for many years. Under his leadership, SumDU became one of the leading HEIs of Ukraine with a strong scientific, educational, and material, and technical base, modern technologies of the educational process, and entered the prestigious international rankings, which indicates a high level of the educational process in compliance with international quality standards, a strong scientific component of university’s work and fruitful international cooperation.

Anatoliy Vasylyev has a number of awards for his significant contribution to the development of higher education in Ukraine, is an Honored Worker of Education, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of education, awarded the Order of Merit of the III degree, Diploma of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the medal "For Valorous Work", the medals of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine "Ushynskyi K. D.", "Hryhorii Skovoroda", "Volodymyr Monomakh", has awards of the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Educators "For Social Partnership", Honorary awards "For Merits to the City", "For Merits to the Armed Forces of Ukraine" and others.
