The most important winter student competitions of Ukraine were held for the third time, and the program included biathlon and cross-country skiing.

Athletes of Sumy State University once again confirmed their status as one of the favorites, taking the final second team place with a total of 796 points. The first place was won by the capital's National University of Ukraine on Physical Education and Sports (885 points), and the National University "Chernihiv Collegium" named after T. H. Shevchenko took third place with 376 points.

At the biathlon competitions held within the III Winter Universiade, the SumDU team took third place in the team championship among higher education institutions. Dmytro Hrushchak (sprint), a student of the Faculty of Technical Systems and Energy Efficient Technologies, and Yevhen Ivchenko, a master student of the Medical Institute (short individual race), won individual bronze medals in particular types of the biathlon program.

At the cross-country skiing competitions, the university team won a silver medal in the team event. The SumDU team girls showed an outstanding performance: out of three sets of awards they gave up their opponents only one silver and one bronze medal. The pedestal of the race in the classic style was completely occupied by SumDU students - Yuliia Krol (1st place), Daryna Kovaliova (2nd place), Dariia Rubliova (3rd place); the sprint race in the classic style - Yuliia Krol (1st place), Dariia Rubliova (2nd place), Daryna Kovaliova (4th place). Dariia Rubliova came third in the freestyle race, collecting a full set of Universiade medals, and Yuliia Krol won the gold medal and the status of the absolute champion of the Universiade (all the girls are the students of the Medical Institute of SumDU).
