Student media agency "Studio 16x9" of the Media Center of Sumy State University took part in the International Short Film Competition “Let's Talk About Water 2021 International Prize”.

The video was published on a virtual platform for further review by international experts.

Scientists, directors, and activists were invited to participate in the competition to shed light on the problems of pollution and excessive consumption of water resources.

In total, more than 200 participants from around the world took part in the competition: Ukraine, USA, Nigeria, Yemen, Ecuador, Germany, Moldova, India, Pakistan, France, Australia, Canada, Morocco, Nepal, Tajikistan, Russia, Iran, Turkey, Philippines, Belarus, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Mexico, Indonesia, Vietnam.

The aim of the “Let's Talk About Water” project is to raise people's awareness of the local, regional and global water issues facing humanity through events and conversations surrounding public screenings.

The first LTAW event was organized in Autumn of 2009 at the University of California, Irvine by Professor Jay Famiglietti (GIWS), film historian Linda Lilienfeld (LTAW), and colleagues from the Hydrological Sciences University Consortium Inc. Since then, LTAW film events have been held around the world every year.

In 2019, LTAW established a partnership with GIWS dedicated to the dissemination of water science and climate change through an annual film festival, podcasts, and more. All this, combining the power of cinema with the power of science, will be able to inform, engage and inspire people around the world to solve problems and join the discussion on water problems and ways to solve them.

During the film making, SumDU students faced the problem of weather conditions, as it rained in Sumy for three weeks in a row, due to which the shooting was postponed all the time. The weather decided to help just a day before the deadline, but it didn’t stand in the way to create a video, on the contrary - added thirst and enthusiasm to the realization of the idea.
