On May 20th, Vineta Kleine, the Director of the NATO Information and Documentation Center in Ukraine, and Svitlana Rotaienko, the Project Manager of the Center visited Sumy State University as part of an international seminar on sustainability and security, which took place at the Congress Center on May 19-21.

During the visit, the Center's representatives had a meeting with rector Vasyl Karpusha, the Head of the International Affairs Department Kostyantyn Kyrychenko, the Head of the Coordination Center for Humanitarian Policy Nina Svitailo, and Mykola Nazarov, the Head of the SumDU Research Center for Regional Security.

Vasyl Karpusha thanked Vineta Kleine for the support and mutually beneficial partnership in the implementation of security programmes, and highlighted the opportunities and achievements of the university, in particular in the areas of international cooperation.

He noted that despite the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the university is actively developing an international partnership. The result of this work, among other things, is an increase in the number of students from other countries who have chosen to study at SumDU.

The Head of the International Affairs Department Konstyantyn Kyrychenko noted that the university cooperates with about 300 partners from 50 countries, in particular, with the countries of the European Union.

He stressed that SumDU is a signatory of the Magna Charta Universitatum. The university builds the scientific and educational process on European standards, implements modern technologies, the latest equipment, including through large-scale international grant projects.

Vineta Kleine, the Director of the NATO Information and Documentation Center in Ukraine, said that she had heard a lot of positive feedback about SumDU and finally had the opportunity to personally verify their veracity. As one of the examples of successful implementation of international cooperation programmes, Vineta Kleine named a seminar on sustainability and security, in which she directly participates.

At the end of the meeting, Vineta Kleine shared her impressions of the university in the Book of Reviews. Also, the guests got acquainted with modern technological innovations offered by the SumDU library, as well as with the unique opportunities of virtual and augmented reality provided by the educational and research laboratory "Ulab".

After a visit to the main campus at the SumDU Congress Center, Vineta Kleine gave a lecture for SumDU students, outlining NATO's role in the modern world, talking about NATO-Ukraine relations, what the NATO Information and Documentation Center in Ukraine does, and what projects it implements, expressed her views on the formation of public diplomacy.
