On December 16, Sumy State University hosted the second stage of the XII Taras Shevchenko International Language and Literary Competition, which brought together more than 50 representatives of pupils and students in the creative competition.

The participants of the competition have traditionally been students of institutions of higher and professional higher education in the humanitarian and non-humanitarian areas of studying.

During the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Sumy Regional State Administration Yuri KHARLAMOV noted that the competition fulfilled the important mission - fostering respect and love for the Ukrainian language, which was the foundation for building the independence of our country. Volodymyr SADIVNYCHY, Head of the Contest Jury, Head of the Department of Journalism and Philology of SumDU, gave a speech about the role of language as a powerful information tool in his welcoming speech to the participants.

The first vice-rector of SumDU Serhiy LEONOV emphasized that the university supported various areas of youth development and was proud of the fact that for many years it had been the basis for holding the Taras Shevchenko language and literature contest. "I am confident that for each of you this competition will be the next stage of personal development. Good luck to you and victory! ”, - the first vice-rector wished the participants.

Creative teams of the SumDU Cultural and Art Center presented the good mood and the positive atmosphere to the contestants.

The results of the creative competition will be known after the examination of the works and the jury meeting. Traditionally, the winner will represent his school in the all-Ukrainian stage of the contest.
