On 2 September 2022, members of Sumy State University participated in the international conference “Educational Cooperation between Ukraine and Morocco: Future Prospects”. Held and dedicated to foundation of the Global Ukraine University Campus in Africa, the event was supported by Universiapolis (International University of Agadir).

During the conference, Sumy State University was represented by Serhii LIEONOV (the first vice-chancellor), Kostiantyn KYRYCHENKO (the head of the International Affairs Department) and Mykola BOZHKO (the head of the Department of International Education).

“Moroccans are one of the largest communities among foreign students in Ukraine. For us, it is extremely important to keep such a tendency in future. Ukrainian education is highly assessed and respected in Morocco. That is explained by a huge amount of Ukrainian graduates who take high positions in African countries”, – said Ihor PRYKHODKO (the Ukrainian chargé d'affaires ad interim in Morocco) during the conference.

The goal of the Global Ukraine University Campus in Africa is pedagogic association within Universiapolis and partners’ accredited courses. Besides, a consortium is developed to broaden academic mobility and double diploma programs.

Firstly, the consortium is going to offer a critical short-term decision for managing academic crises among foreigners who studied in Ukraine and had to leave it after 24 February 2022 (the war beginning). Secondly, medium-term projects of Ukrainian-Moroccan double diplomas will be created. They are aimed to provide more Moroccans and Africans with access to approved and high-quality preparation from higher education and research institutions in medicine, engineering, management, etc. Thirdly, there is an idea to widen future cooperation with other partners: IAE Metz School of Management, University of Lorraine. Fourthly, international mobility is planned for Ukrainian lecturers and researchers.

The study will be proposed on the 50/50 basis with corresponding coordination of human and pedagogic resources. Thus, Ukrainian lecturers will realize half of curricula via the full-time or distance learning rules. Simultaneously, they will participate equally in the jury of defending diploma projects according to topics and needs. Practical trainings will be supervised by Universiapolis and partners’ lecturers.

“Sumy State University is ready to work with educational and medical institutions of North Africa. We will make the greatest efforts to provide African and Moroccan students with high-quality education”, – stated Serhii LIEONOV (the first vice-chancellor).
