On 18 May 2023, Sumy State University hosted the event “Access to Immersive Education Technologies” for representatives of general education institutions in Sumy.

The event is implemented as part of the “Accelerate” project within the EU Erasmus+ program. The goal is to present innovative e-learning methodologies (augmented and virtual reality), practical tools, platforms and resources from Great Britain, Ireland, Poland and Ukraine.

The meeting provided theoretical and practical components. The participants got acquainted with the current trends in European education development. They improved their own qualifications and gained new experience.

In his welcome address to the participants, Vasyl KARPUSHA (the SumDU rector) focused on immersive technologies at the university. He emphasized that SumDU scientists started working on developments in this field long before the COVID-19 and full-scale war outbreak.

“Such technologies are important for education in general as well. We have already endured the coronavirus, we are experiencing martial law, and we see that face-to-face education is not always possible. Technologies of virtual and augmented reality, which we present today, have great educational opportunities. The future lies behind them,” – said Vasyl KARPUSHA.

Yuriy ZUBAN (the SumDU E-Learning Center director and the Accelerate project leader) introduced the participants to the project implementation stages and developments in virtual and augmented reality.

There was an online greeting of the participants by representatives of the project partner universities from Great Britain, Ireland, Poland and Ukraine. Besides, the SumDU immersive education videos as part of the Accelerate project were presented.

At the meeting end, all participants received international certificates.
