A large-scale meeting of representatives of the European University Alliance “Unite!” took place on the basis of Wroclaw Polytechnic in Poland (a SumDU partner). The organization unites higher education institutions from 9 EU countries (Austria, Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Finland, France and Sweden), 7 leading Ukrainian universities and heads of the National Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education.

For the first time, Ukrainian partners had an opportunity to present their own achievements within the project “Green Standards for Ukrainian Universities”. It is funded by the National Agency for Academic Exchanges (Poland) and coordinated by the Wrocław Polytechnic. A special feature of this stage was the summer school “Green Technologies for Ukrainian Students” with involvement of undergraduates from Ukrainian partner universities. Thanks to this initiative, 8 SumDU members (the Business Institute and the TeSET faculty) studied green business models for a week. They gained skills in creating and managing green projects to reach the goals of sustainable development.

The meeting was attended by Serhii LIEONOV (the SumDU first vice-rector) and Kostiantyn KYRYCHENKO (the head of the International Affairs Department).

According to the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030, green transformations should become an integral part of quality higher education. Sumy State University will soon pilot the application of green standards developed with European partners in science, educational activities and campus management.

Within the European University Alliance “Unite!”, the range of opportunities for international cooperation with leading EU universities is expanding significantly. The relevant interaction programs will actively involve our students and scientists.
