Kostiantyn KYRYCHENKO (the head of the International Cooperation Department) took part in the press conference from Sumy State University.

The European Commission has opened a special window for Ukraine within the Erasmus+ program in response to the challenges faced by Ukrainian higher education in wartime.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science together with Ukrainian partner universities worked on the proposal. As a result, the DigiUni project was supported within the framework of a special competitive window. Systematic approach, broad impact and expected cooperation of all Ukrainian universities were the project advantages compared to other competitive proposals.

The project team, led by Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, includes a large number of foreign partner universities and associations of EU member states. They comprise France, Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic and Poland. Also, among participants there are 10 Ukrainian universities together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the National Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education and the Ukrainian Association of IT Specialists.

Taking into account the best EU practices, the team will create a single digital educational ecosystem in Ukraine. It will provide continuous, high-quality, inclusive and transparent education, regardless of location of students and teachers. That will be based on digital innovations in education.

The project also aims to support students during the martial law, to promote ties between Ukrainian universities, their students and teachers who were forced to leave Ukraine. The project focus is also popularization of Ukrainian studies, involvement of foreign students and Ukrainians living abroad into Ukrainian education.

The project will ensure synergy and close cooperation between Ukrainian partner universities to develop further recovery of Ukrainian education after the victory.

The planned project start is November 2023. The total duration is 3 years.
