On 25 March 2024, Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University hosted an Erasmus+ meeting “Open Ukrainian Initiative – Digital University”.

The project aims to build a digital ecosystem in higher education institutions of Ukraine to ensure a high level of educational service and research. The central element is creation of a national digital educational platform. It will combine opportunities for innovative educational content. Besides, there will be an access to modern developments of project partners.

The project target group is students and teachers of Ukrainian universities. Regardless of location, they will be able to continue studying, teaching, and researching at a high level that meets international standards.

Sumy State University was represented by Ivan KOZII (vice-rector for research and development) and Kostiantyn KYRYCHENKO (head of the International Cooperation Department).

According to Ivan KOZII, Sumy State University is already known as one of the most digitalized universities. This project is a powerful intellectual and technological support for the further development of digital infrastructure. Kostiantyn KYRYCHENKO noted the project idea emerged as a response to the challenges of mass migration and limited access to educational resources in February-March 2022. The European Commission unprecedentedly supported the initiative of leading Ukrainian universities and introduced a special funding instrument for the intensive digitalization of Ukrainian higher education institutions.

The project is scheduled for 4 years. The project team brings together universities and organizations from Spain, Germany, Poland, France, the Czech Republic and Ukraine. Besides, participants are the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science, the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation, the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, the Ukrainian Association of Information Technology Professionals.
