A solemn ceremony of awarding a certificate “SumDU Honorary Doctor” to professor Thomas BOREN from Sweden took place in Riga (Latvia).

Professor Roman Moskalenko (a representative of the SumDU Medical Institute) performed a pleasant mission during a meeting on the project “Towards Development of a New Antibacterial Strategy for Dentistry)”.

The honorary title was awarded to Thomas BOREN by the decision of the SumDU Academic.

Thomas BOREN from Umeå University (Sweden) has been actively cooperating with the SumDU Medical Institute since 2015. Thanks to this cooperation, two Erasmus projects with Umeå University were implemented in 2017-2022. Besides, there was an individual internship under the Visby program from the Swedish Institute and the Horizon Europe project “ARGO”.

Professor BOREN assists in creating the Ukrainian-Swedish research center “SUMEYA” at Sumy State University. Currently, the Center demonstrates high indicators of grant and economic activity.

Mr. BOREN has repeatedly participated in conferences organized by Sumy State University, delivered lectures and contributed to a lecture course for the dental faculty. He has also been actively supporting Ukrainian citizens abroad during the Russian-Ukrainian war by providing shelter to refugees, collecting and delivering humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

This event is a tribute to professor BOREN’s great contribution to science and international cooperation.
