On 15 July 2024, an online meeting was held between representatives of Sumy State University and Bingham University (Nigeria). During this event, an updated cooperation agreement was signed.

The meeting was attended by Vasyl KARPUSHA (the SumDU rector), Ivan KOZII (the vice rector for academic affairs), Tetyana MAYBORODA (the deputy head of the International Cooperation Department), and Mykola BOZHKO (the director of the International Education Department). Bingham University was represented by leading representatives of the administration and staff, in particular by Professor AYUBA (the newly appointed rector).

The updated agreement comprises deepened cooperation, joint educational and research projects, academic exchanges of students and teachers, joint participation in international conferences.

Vasyl KARPUSHA congratulated Professor AYUBA on his appointment: “It is a great pleasure to be among old friends of Bingham University. First of all, I would like to congratulate Professor AYUBA on his new position. I am sure it is a great honor, but it is also a great responsibility. I sincerely wish that Professor AYUBA’s tenure will contribute to development of your institution and our cooperation. Sumy State University and Bingham University have been cooperating for more than five years, which means that we already have a great joint progress. I believe that our cooperation will remain dynamic and fruitful”.

The Bingham University rector also expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and the further cooperation between Ukrainian and Nigerian higher education institutions. He emphasized importance for future development of scientific and educational partnerships.

The online meeting ended with an update of the cooperation agreement. There was a discussion of plans for the nearest future, including double degree programs, academic mobility, exchange of experience between university libraries, etc.
