On 10-11 July 2024, the 75th anniversary NATO summit and a public forum were held in Washington, DC. It comprised 500 politicians, military officers, diplomats, scholars and heads of security centers worldwide. Among them was Mykola NAZAROV (PhD in Political Science, head of the SumDU Center for Regional Security Studies, associate professor).

“The NATO Public Forum in Washington is a platform for communication on decisions and results of the NATO summit and further support for Ukraine in the war against Russia,” – said Mykola NAZAROV.

The forum featured speeches by prominent political figures of our time: Anthony BLINKEN (US Secretary of State), Jens STOLTENBERG (NATO Secretary General), Jake SULLIVAN (US National Security Advisor). Panel discussions were also held with the participation of prime ministers of NATO member states, military leaders, and directors of global think tanks.

Mykola NAZAROV had a unique opportunity to talk personally with Anthony BLINKEN, ask questions about Ukrainian prospects for NATO membership and remind him of the need to support Ukraine.

“I am grateful to the NATO Center for Public Diplomacy in Ukraine and its Director Vineta KLEINE for recommending my candidacy to the forum committee. We have been cooperating for over 10 years. This forum participation is the next stage of our long-term work,” – said Mykola NAZAROV.

The SumDU researcher also noted that he has recently started working as a visiting researcher at the GLOBSEC organization. During the forum, he had an opportunity to communicate with the organization leadership and determine plans for further cooperation between GLOBSEC and SumDU.
