Hasmallah Huzeifa Adil Eljak is a correspondent for the Al-Arabiya TV channel. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he has been actively covering events in Ukraine.

He gained his first experience working for the channel while studying at Sumy State University. At the invitation of the Sumy Oblast State Broadcasting Company, he became a weather anchorman. To do this, he studied Ukrainian. Today, he talks about Ukraine on international Arabic television and boasts of his acquaintance with the President of Ukraine.

During his recent visit to Sumy, Mr. Hasmallah spoke with Suspilne correspondents.

Hasmallah Huzeifa Adil Eljak is also one of the heroes of the project “Remember Yourself in the Classroom”. Last year, on occasion of the 75th SumDU anniversary, the press center and the Department of Journalism and Philology initiated a series of interviews with graduates.

In his interview, Hasmallah Huzeifa Adil Eljak called SumDU “a school of life”.

“I came here at the age when a person begins to grow up. My formation took place at Sumy State University. I learned how to cook and live independently. I owe a lot in my life to the years I studied here. I met many people who studied at other institutions. I can say with confidence that they did not have the same student life as we did. Over the years, my Ukrainian friends became my family. When I returned to my homeland, I had a feeling that I was leaving my home, as if I had left a part of my soul here in Sumy,” – Mr. Huzeifa shared his memories.

The full version of the interview is available on the SumDU website.

All interviews within the project can be found here.
