On 8 August 2024, a meeting of the Alliance of Ukrainian Universities Board began in Rivne. The event is being held at the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering.
Rectors, vice-rectors and university specialists gathered to summarize the past year results. They drew up an action plan for the 2024-2025 academic year in various areas, considered accession of associate partners to the Alliance team and discussed a number of other topical issues.
Sumy State University, as an Alliance member, is represented by Rector Vasyl KARPUSHA, Vice Rector Ivan KOZII, Head of the International Cooperation Department Kostiantyn KYRYCHENKO and Deputy Head of the same department Tetiana MAIBORODA.
At today’s meeting, the participants discussed the current situation with higher education in Ukraine. They reported on the state of affairs at Alliance universities.
During the full-scale war, most of the Alliance universities have faced staffing problems, difficulties in arranging quality shelters, challenges of introducing artificial intelligence into education and departure of young people to study abroad.
The rectors also emphasized need for cooperation and communication with the public sector to improve and regulate the regulatory framework in education. It can produce a more productive work of the Ukrainian education sector.
On 9 August 2024, the meeting included a business breakfast entitled “The Business-Authorities-Community Triangle: How to Interact in Rivne?”. Here, university leaders met with local business and government representatives to discuss future cooperation, learn what challenges and problems currently exist in the Rivne community and how universities can help solve them.
