Roman MOSKALENKO and Oleksii PLASTUN (SumDU professors) are winners of the Talents for Ukraine grant program from the KSE Foundation in the Science category.
The jury determines talented people to receive grant support in 8 categories: Science, Technology, Culture, Education, Engineering, Mathematics, Ecology, Human Capital Development. 242 winners have been selected.
The Talents for Ukraine program was created by the KSE Foundation with assistance of international benefactors. The aim is supporting a new generation of creative leaders who can think outside the box.
The first SumDU winner is Roman MOSKALENKO (deputy director for international relations at the SumDU Medical Institute, DS in Medicine, professor at the Department of Pathological Anatomy). He has 60 Scopus publications, 680 citations and h-index of 12. As a co-founder of the Ukrainian-Swedish center SUMEYA, he is engaged in medical and translational research, collaborates with Umeå University and Professor Thomas BOREN on a vaccine against Helicobacter pylori. It could significantly impact medicine of stomach diseases and reduce development of antibiotic resistance. His projects focus on translational medicine, development of new biomaterials and support of researchers in medical science.
The second SumDU winner is Oleksii PLASTUN (professor at the Department of International Economic Relations of the BiEM Institute, DS in Economics). He is rated first in the IDEAS Ranking of Ukrainian Economists in terms of publication activity as of 2023. Scholar of Berkley University (USA), University of Liverpool (UK), Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, National Bank of Ukraine. The scientist has a unique experience of combining activities in trading and science. He dreams of writing a book about “anti-trading”, in which he will share his experience of trading on stock exchanges, FOREX and the cryptocurrency markets.
