On 1 October 2024, Ukraine honors heroes – courageous and victorious defenders of our country! On the eve of the Day of Ukrainian Defenders, SumDU laid flowers at the “Memorial Sign to the Fallen Student Soldier”.

The event was attended by representatives of the university administration, members of student self-government, staff and students.

“We are here today, in Ukraine, which is and will be, thanks to our defenders. Today, they give their most precious thing – their lives – for independence of our country. On the feast of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, believers pray for Ukraine’s soonest victory. With all our hearts and souls, we wish for overthrow of the Russian aggressor and victorious peace over our country!” – said Vasyl KARPUSHA (SumDU rector).

The participants thanked defenders for their courage and invaluable feat. In deep sorrow, they honored the memory of fallen defenders with a minute of silence.
